Our Met 8 & 9 Suites can be hired as separate rooms, or as one larger room, Met 10, when the partition is removed. With plenty of natural sunlight, this room can be used flexibly for a variety of meetings and events.

Barbara Hepworth - Met 12

Born in Wakefield, her work exemplifies modernism and in particular modern sculpture. Instead of making art that looked like people or objects, Hepworth began to make sculptures and drawings using abstract shapes, she was inspired by nature and the world around her.

Helen Fielding - Met 18

Born in Morley, English novelist and screenwriter Fielding is best known as the creator of the fictional character Bridget Jones, which then followed a sequence of novels and films beginning with the life of a thirty-something singleton in London trying to make sense of life and love.

Betty Boothroyd - Met 15

Boothroyd, a British politican who served as a member of Parliament from 1973 - 2000. Born in Dewsbury, a member of the Labour Party, she served as Speaker of the House of Commons from 1992 - 2000. She also was the first woman to serve as the Speaker.

Bronte Sisters - Met 16

Hailing from Thornton, West Yorkshire, the sisters: Charlotte, Emily and Anne, are well known poets and novelists. Like many contempoary female writers they published their poems and novels under male pseudonyms. Their stories attracted attention for their passion, and originality immediately following their publication.

Brian Boffey - Met 17

A national favourite and the most popular of the childrens Rowntree's sweet line, Boffey from nearby Horsforth, Leeds, accidentally created the Jelly Tot in 1965, whilst working as a research scientist, by creating a forumla to make powdered jelly and dropping hot drops of gelatine into the powder.
